The advent of the Internet has made possible for people from different parts of the world to communicate with one another. As a result, there is a tremendous increase in communication activities across the globe in recent years. Businesses can offer their products and services to customers in distant lands, publishers can reach out to a wider audience, and ordinary people can make foreign friends and learn about other cultures. However, there is an obstacle that is preventing the world from becoming fully globalized, and that is language barrier. One of the most difficult language barriers to overcome is the English-Chinese language barrier.

English and Chinese are two of the most widely used languages in the world, and there is presently an increasing need for English-Chinese translation. In the past decade or so, China has risen to become one of the leading economic powers in the world, and more and more businessmen from English-speaking countries are trying to establish business relationships with Chinese people. The main thing that prevents them from doing so is the language barrier. In order for English-speaking businessmen to conduct business with Chinese businessmen, they need to be able to translate documents into Chinese accurately. English-Chinese translation is one of the most difficult forms of translation, because there are many differences between the two languages.

English words are formed by putting together a number of sound-indicating letters. There are altogether 26 letters in the English alphabet, and most of them are not considered a word on their own. On the other hand, Chinese uses the logographic writing system, in which symbols are actually words themselves, and not made up of a number of letters. This basic difference makes it difficult for English speaking people to read and comprehend Chinese texts, and vice versa.

There are also many varieties of English and Chinese, and this makes it difficult for a translator to provide accurate Chinese translation. English can come in the forms of British English, American English, and International English, and each of these has its own jargons and expressions, spelling rules, and pronunciation style. The two main varieties of the Chinese language are Mandarin and Cantonese, but there are hundreds of dialects being used in China and other Chinese-speaking places around the world. If you need to translate English documents into a lesser known Chinese dialect, a translator who is only proficient in Mandarin or Cantonese may not be able to do a good job for you.

Since it is not easy to translate between English and Chinese, it is best that you leave the task in the hands of a qualified and experienced professional Chinese translator. The translator you choose need to have a good command of both languages and the necessary experience to handle the kind of translation you need, whether it is business translation, medical translation, technical translation, or others. If you can find someone who can provide excellent Chinese translation, you will be able to communicate effectively with your Chinese business partners or friends.
