France Country Guide
Indulge in France
France is one of the most incredible countries to visit when abroad in Europe. There are so many places to see and visit! Of course, every visit needs to start in Paris. This incredible city is unrivalled as the most beautiful in the world. From Sacre Coeur to the Eiffel Tower, there is nothing as majestic as Paris. Spend a few days getting lost on the cobblestone streets of this city. Take a picnic to Ile Saint Louis for an afternoon in the sun. Just take your time to enjoy Paris and all it has to offer.
Next, move on the Normandy and Brittany. People argue that this is one of the most stunning places in the country thanks to its majestic cliffs and untouched beaches. Be sure to visit the D Day beaches and the American cemetery. These locations are deeply moving and powerful. They should never be forgotten. As you make your way down the coast, head to Biarritz and Bordeaux. Both of these areas are well known for their wine and indulgent lifestyle. From Bordeaux, head into the Dordogne region. Many English populate this region thanks to the natural beauty found in its countryside. The Dordogne river cuts through quaint medieval towns and carved cliffs perfect for taking pictures. You can also visit one of the many chateaux that dot the region.
Once you have explored the Atlantic coast and the centre of France, head south! Nothing can rival the glamour of the Cote D'azure. From Saint Tropez to Saint Laurent du Var, there is nothing like the glittering turquoise sea in the south of France. Take a train ride on the cliff to the Italian border to get a real taste of what the coast line looks like. There is nothing that can rival this coast in the exquisite lifestyle that it offers. Spend a few days on the rocky beaches of Nice before heading to check out the Monte Carlo casino. The Cote D'Azure is full of adorable seaside towns just waiting to be explored such as Ville Franche or Menton. There are also great art museums full of Picasso's thanks to the time he spent in Antibes. Do not be afraid to let loose while in this part of France!
The French language is arguably one of the most beautiful in the world. It derives from Latin, and is one of romance languages of Europe. The language has a beautiful cadence and it relies on a heavy R. It is also one of the most widely spoken languages in the world. Many former colonies still use French as their official government language. Many French do not speak English; as a result, it is recommended to have a basic knowledge of French before visiting. You do not need to seriously study, but the basics like please and thank you are enough. Always start a conversation with "bonjour" or "bonsoir." This will show natives that you are making an effort. They will probably switch right to English once they realize you are foreign.
Any trip to France will be enough to make you fall in love with the food, culture, and landscape. This incredible country is full of a people who love to indulge in the simplest of things. What are you waiting for? Join them!
