The most interesting English pubs in the UK (Outside London)
Axis Translations has its headquarters in the UK. While being focused on professional translation services in the UK is what we do during the day, it appears that some of our team also enjoys some other features of the UK…… pubs! If there is one thing that the UK is famous for, it is pubs. Not only do we have plenty of pubs throughout the UK, from the tiniest to the biggest, but we also have a number of pubs in the UK that are more than just a place to grab a drink.
If you want to learn more about the most interesting English pubs in the UK (outside of London for the purpose of this post), then why not check out our list of those that are definitely worth a visit.
The Birdcage, Thame
Found just outside of Oxford, one of the most interesting things about the Birdcage is that it was once a prison. However, that isn’t all, it is also thought to be haunted, which means that it is a popular choice for those people who are looking to hunt for ghosts whilst they also enjoy a drink or two.
Fab Café, Leeds
Whilst this particular bar isn’t strictly a pub it is still an amazing place to visit. Recognised as a TV and Movie themed bar, it is packed full of amazing toys, comics and decorative pieces that make this an amazing place to spend some time. Playing pinball is a must here and you can also check out the interesting menu which is packed full of drinks and treats that you just need to try.
Redruth Meadery, Cornwall
One thing about Cornwall is that it is packed full of a variety of pubs, most of which have a “Ye Olde” feel to them. One of the most interesting pubs is the Redruth Meadery. Not only is the décor something straight out of a Viking or Medieval movie, it is also famous for offering a rather interesting variety of drinks too
The Crooked House, Dudley
If you visit The Crooked House in Dudley then be ready to feel more than just a little bit wonky. This pub is in an area that has seen substantial coal mining. This has meant that the ground it stands on has become tilted and slanted. If this wasn’t enough to make you a little tipsy, then the pub is also packed full of optical illusions to send you over the edge.
The Marsden Grotto, South Shields
One of the most unique pubs in the UK has to be this seafront pub in South Shields. Based on a beach that looks across the North Sea towards Denmark, the actual pub is located in a sea cave. It was once a location used by smugglers, but now it is a fascinating place to enjoy a drink or two.
As you can see, the UK is packed full of amazing pubs that are more than just a great place to drink. They are historical, they are brilliantly designed and they are in an interesting setting. Make sure that you plan to spend some time in these amazing English pubs and we can promise you that you won’t regret it!
So once you have visited this range of good English pubs, don’t forget Axis Translations for English translation services in the UK. We can assist you with over 150 languages and also provide interpreters around the UK.
